Error: Requirements planning is not active in plant GKP1- Message No. 61139
Solution:
The error Message No. 61139 indicates that while you are trying to perform MRP-related activities (like running MD01, MD02, or MD03), the system does not recognize the plant GKP1 as being enabled for Requirements Planning.
To resolve this, you need to ensure the plant is activated and the planning file entries are created. Here is the detailed breakdown of the solution:
1. Activate MRP for the Plant
Even if the material masters are maintained with MRP views, the plant itself must be “switched on” for these processes in customizing.
- Transaction Code: OMDU
- Path: SPRO -> SAP Reference IMG -> Production -> Material Requirements Planning -> Planning File Entries -> Activate MRP and Setup Planning File
Steps in the Configuration Screen:
- Locate your Plant GKP1.
- Check the “Activate requirement planning” checkbox.
- Save the changes (this will prompt for a Transport Request).
Maintain the configuration for the Plant in this path which can be accessed with SAP Transaction code.
SAP Reference IMG -> Material Management -> Consumption-Based Planning -> Planning -> Activate Material Requirements Planning

Click on Material Requirement Planning

Activate for your plant.

2. Set Up Planning File Entries
Activating the plant is the first step, but the system also needs a “Planning File Entry” for each material to know it needs to be included in the planning run.
- Transaction Code: MDAB (Set up Planning File Entries)
- Alternative Path: In the same
OMDUscreen mentioned above, you can often find the “Background Job” or “Set Up” button. - Action: Run this for Plant GKP1. This builds the initial table (MDVM/DBVM) of all materials relevant for MRP.
