Solution: The reason is the availability of negative stocks in the previous period. If it is in test system or IDES system, you can put the flag in MMPV transaction as shown below and execute so that new period will be opened.

If it is Production system, you must check the MARDH table to find the list of Materials with negative stock as shown below.

Then, you need to clear it by using 202/561 goods movements to increase the stock in previous period to clear. Then you cancel the goods movement in current period.

For example, you want to close current period 05 and open 06 and got the error. Then you follow the steps below.

1. Increase the stock with 202/561 movement type by giving the posting date from previous period 04 related posting date to nullify the previous period stock although you see the stock in MMBE after this goods movement.
2. Now decrease the stock with current period-05 as posting date with 201/562 which will clear MMBE stock which was added in step 1.
